I think it would be remiss of me not to shoehorn a music reference into a blog primarily about the power of podcasting.
I ran the 30 minute session, as part of Digital Fortnight in both London and Sheffield so that it would empower those who attended to create their own audio snippets.
For those not in the know ‘I’ve got the power’, was a 90’s hit song from Snap, a German music group, which in hindsight would have added a bit of a boost to my presentation which sought to let my audience, assembled at BIS HQ and St Paul’s Place up north, know how they could unpack their area of policy and engage listeners with their work areas.
Through the introductory presentation it seemed that quite a few of those in attendance had been inspired by the interactive session as they shared their ideas on how they could use podcasting as a platform to excite, enthuse and engage stakeholders and their wider audience with compelling content.
Essentially what we are doing, as with our other media channels is telling a compelling story. You’ll hear for yourself in the clip below that you do not necessarily have to be a seasoned broadcaster to be successful in this medium. Not one of the voices you will hear have had a career in radio. However just as with Twitter, YouTube and Audioboom, come to think of it any channel we seek to spread our messages, it all comes down to the story, tone of voice and pace of delivery.
